Politicians rarely surprise me, and while I wish they were all ethical people, it doesn’t surprise me when they aren’t. It is relatively easy for them to rise through the ranks without ethics — maybe easier. Not so for a judge. And of course all judges are not ethical either, including some on the SC, but I still think they are more likely to demonstrate ethics, if for no other reason than they are smart enough to know where to draw the line. More often than politicians at least.
