Yesterday, while meeting with the President of El Salvador, Trump expressed interest in deporting US citizens who commit crimes to prison in El Salvador, where he is already deporting immigrants to. It’s unclear whether these criminal US citizens would be convicted or just accused of committing crimes. Trump has as little respect for due process as he has for the Constitution.
My question is: Where is the line for this Republican Congress? How far are they willing to let him go before they finally stand up to him? Because Trump, like a little kid, is certainly testing to see how far he can go, to see how much he can get away with. And if this Congress continues to let Trump ignore the Constitution, the rule of law, due process, our system of checks and balances, federal judges’ rulings, etc, will their constituents still reelect them?
