I'm not sure there's a ton of interest in Canadian politics in these parts, but I did want to make a post about this just to share one thing:
This isn't a Trump thing.
It's been coming for ages. It's extremely overdue. If anything, Trump is the one argument for him to stay, because it's not ideal for us to be in this limbo when the Americans have just elected a loose cannon who is drunk with power.
Trudeau's done this, as is his way, in the most cringe-y way possible. But if the US media tries to tell you he's running from Trump -- that's not what's going on. His political clock has run out. He can't win another election. His party wants him to go so that they don't get completely slaughtered -- though they probably WILL be completely slaughtered. We'd be here no matter who won the Presidency. We'd just be less uncomfortable about it.
