And if we have to explain so that our point resonates then we are losing the issue.
See everyone who says we need to end the two party system. Sounds great but isn't feasible as the only way for the two party system to end is if we went to a parliamentary government where the head of government is part of the legislative branch. That is how third parties take hold - by forcing the major parties to form coalitions to form a government. As long as the head of government is separate from the legislative branch there will only be two parties as forming a government doesn't require any coalition building. It only requires winning an election. This is even more entrenched in the US because the head of government is also the head of state.
We will never win by trying to explain that so we need to find a way to win within that construct.
