Schumer & Jeffries probably did though and they should have dealt with it a year ago. Still that doesn't let President & First Lady Biden off the hook. They both know how rigorous campaigning can be. They both knew he was 80+. The default for both of him should have been he should NOT run again unless there was a dire need to do so.
It seems like it was the opposite for everyone - the default was that he run again unless something proves he wasn't able to. Well something proved it - just a year later and after we could have had a normal primary. Luckily everyone did was was necessary to hopefully beat back fascism. Whether we do our not, Ds need to have an open discussion about folks staying way past when they should. That discussion should include a personal reckoning for EVERYONE who enabled several people staying on too long these last several years (see RBG who wouldn't step down even when President Obama asked her to. She stayed with the full support of several women's groups).
