"Rigged" means manipulated by dishonest means. A few billionaires spent $ 10 million+ on attack ads against me, including an ad rated "false" by an independent fact checker. That is dishonest means to manipulate an outcome. I said "rigged by billionaires" and our politics are–in fact–manipulated by big dark money. Defending democracy means calling that out. At no time have I ever undermined the vote count and election process in CA, which are beyond reproach.
She is frustrated with dark money influencing election outcomes, but the language she used did not advance her argument. If anything, the statement has a "Karen wants to speak with the manager" vibe.
Barbara Lee also lost the primary, but she thanked her supporters, voters, and volunteers; stated her commitment to her values and to serving out the rest of her term. Equally important, she congratulated fellow representative, Adam Schiff.
I've loved Katie and her whiteboard since the day she was elected, and the House will not be a better place without her and Barbara Lee.
