Scout back when we speculated Drew would get shot but I was thinking a story like Days recently did, where it was revealed that EJ's young niece Rachel shot him but more in a "she picked up the gun and it went off" way and not in a "she was really trying to kill him" way. And this was a cold, calculated attempt that resulted in shooting him in the back twice. I don't think the show would let a little girl do that to her own father. I also doubt Monica because that would tarnish her legacy right as she's dying. They'll want to do a proper send off and not one with blood on her hands.
