she has also told Kristina it was a horrible accident, but she isn't belaboring the point because Kristina isn't ready to hear it. I think she also told Rick (?) and maybe others that it was a tragic accident.

Kristina needs to blame Ava because acknowledging something is not the same thing as believing it emotionally. She needs to blame someone so she can live with herself.
