Finally, this is my own spec/prediction on how Sam will die. She just told Alexis that she and the police divers checked once and could not find the gun. They are going to try again and she will also. Maybe Sam drowns somehow. They get her to the surface, do CPR, rush her to the hospital and reveal that she is brain dead.
