Sonny and Kate – October 6, 2008, to October 7, 2008

There were two lines of story in these episodes.

First, was the story between Kate and Olivia and the secret of Dante, Olivia’s son with Sonny.

Olivia had two motives to come between Kate and Sonny. One was to protect Kate from Sonny’s life.

The other was to protect the secret of Dante.

When Kate woke up, Olivia told her “Sonny is the reason you got shot. When he said he was out of the mob, he lied.” This wasn’t exactly the truth of what happened. It was true that Sonny didn’t completely stay out of the mob during the months before, as he had this deal with Karpov. But he did end that deal, and he did stay out of the mob after doing so. Even though he didn’t tell the entire truth to Kate about how he had reached that deal with Karpov or the truth about when he found out Karpov was a mobster.

The twisting of the plot was also strengthened by the words of another character, Diane, who was Sonny’s lawyer at that time. She said to Kate: “Sonny may have changed who he does business with but he has not entirely changed the business that he does.”

Also, Olivia reminded Kate that Kate had made a promise to keep the secret of Dante, and that Olivia expected Kate to stay true to that promise.

The second story was the one between Jason and Sonny. Conflict was already emerging between them, as Anthony Zachara had planned. Sonny asked Jason to let him lead the organization again so that he could avenge Kate’s shooting. Jason refused. And this is where Anthony Zachara continued to plan out his strategy. He offered to let Sonny lead his organization so that he could retaliate Kate’s shooting. Sonny refused at that time.
