A pattern was being established to infer that Kate was intruding in Jax and Carly’s marriage. There were at least two scenes where Kate appeared at the door demanding to speak with Jax about Crimson. That was not a good impression of Kate as she was introduced to the show, in 2007, as a woman of taste and class.

It may have been that the writing intended to keep this grudge going between Kate and Carly to the extent that Carly would retaliate and steal Kate’s dream.

Kate and Carly’s conflict was not only because of Jax and Crimson. The two female characters were written in contrast in relation to each other. Each insisted that she knew Sonny better than the other. Kate would argue that Sonny had outgrown Carly and Carly suggested that Kate would be disappointed if she thought Sonny would remain loyal to her.

As Kate was a new character on the show, there may have been this anxiety in the Kate fanbase as to what could happen to Kate if she continued on this path with Carly. If she kept antagonizing Carly.

August 27, 2008, may have been one such representation.

A few episodes ago, Kate made it look like that Carly had lied to Jax.

On August 27, 2008, Kate again intruded on Jax and Carly while they were having private moments.

After briefly discussing business, Jax revealed that he had discovered that Kate had previously set Carly up.

Kate explained that she had done so after Carly tried to have Claudia buy Jax’s share of the magazine. However, Jax was not willing to listen to Kate’s reason.

He threatened to “replace” Kate with someone else if a similar incident happened.

Kate then talked to Sonny about this situation and Sonny told Kate that Carly would be satisfied with the “payback” that she had gotten, and that Kate should leave things the way they were.

Kate, however, insisted that Carly could set her up and that Jax would then have Kate leave Crimson. Kate suggested that she may have to take further action for the sake of her career.

In my opinion, every scene and episode that was written and portrayed in the summer of 2008 was written and portrayed for a specific purpose. Even though I am not certain what that purpose was or why it was chosen as the purpose. An inquiry could answer these questions.
