her husband was involved with Sonny. Laura is intelligent. She didn't just wake up recently and grasp that he's not a good guy. She's always known it but she looked past it because of how long they have been friends and the good he has done. I don't get why it's so hard for you to understand that something shifted after she saw the condition that Cyrus was in. He nearly died. That could not have been easy for her to see and it's clearly an image she remembers. It's been three months for us as viewers but it's probably only been weeks for them in Port Charles. She saw him beaten, swollen, bloodied and now she can't unsee that or separate it from what Sonny is capable of.
I agree that it is OTT that so many are turning on him but this is where the story is taken us. A better approach here would have had Sonny being the one to push everyone away but that's not what they wrote.
Bottom-line for me, Laura's 180--abrupt as it is makes sense to me based on her history with Sonny and simply not turning a blind eye to it any longer. You can reach that point even with blood relatives, so why can't she be done with someone who is just a friend? She was at least calm, and explained why nicely when she severed ties. Anna on the other hand, was mean and angry.
