I love it when soaps remember character history. I wasn't watching at the time, but the hint that part of Jagger's "recruitment" of Jason is revenge for a "pre-accident" Jason girlfriend triangle is adds to the Sonny/Karen revenge (I wasn't watching then either). It's nice to see that there was a specific reason they brought Jagger back than because he was Stone's brother. Jason's reaction to learning John was Jagger as he struggled to remember he had such a strong reaction to the name was fascinating.
So far I am very happy with the directions the stories are going.
