to be declared dead based on circumstances of their disappearance:
Blood, threats, crazy ex, signs of a struggle, went out for a run or errand and never returned. At some point their love ones have them declared dead and sometimes no body is ever found. I think that has to be the worst feeling as you never get closer. And part of you wonders if they are being held in a basement or shed somewhere which has happened IRL.
I do believe I have seen a family or two who does have a grave for their loved one. I think it’s totally the family’s call. I mean I’d never do it but I guess it’s up to the individuals based on what they need to claim their own closure.
Just saw last week some cowboy kidnapped and raped 4 or 5 women and one do the teens was missing for years before they caught him and he agreed to lead them to where he buried her. The mom said I’ve waited for this day to bring my baby’s remains home and lay her to rest properly.
And that reminds me. My brother’s ex wife’s mom disappeared about 7 years ago. She went to the corner store on night in Gary, Indiana and never returned. His ex wife became depressed over it because she was close to her mom. She started drinking heavily and abusing my brother so they divorced. 5 years after she was missing they found some remains in the basement of this old house. Four skeletons. One of them was her mom. She was the victim of a local serial killer. When I tell you it was BIZARRE to have it hit so close to home. 🤯
I don’t remember what happened to the guy but I know he told them where to find the bodies. IIRC he snatched her on her way back from the store because all that was found was the bag of groceries and he phone.
