say "I've changed" and feel put upon when everyone who has been harmed by your behavior doesn't immediately trust you again. All you can do is change your behavior and hope that in time they will see the change is solid.
Saying, "I found the Lord and have now changed" is incredibly easy. But actions always speak louder than words. And we know that Cyrus hasn't really changed.
I don't think Laura was totally buying that Cyrus had changed, but letting him know it would make her happy if he had. But I can see why she was disappointed to hear that, as she suspected, he didn't backslide, he'd never reformed in the first place.
