Laura and Leo
Laura breezes into the house in high spirits after having gone shopping with Brooke. Sullen, sorry, Leo, suggests she takes a nap, after all she must be exhausted. Laura has heard that Leo has accepted a job with her mom at Tempo. Sensing that Leo isn’t exactly thrilled with the start-from-the-bottom-up position with mom-in-law, Laura gives him an out, saying if it doesn’t feel right, he doesn’t’ have to do it. Leo, being downright snappish, says it’s HIS decision, he’s going to do it. He apologizes, saying he’s looking forward to working with Brooke. Laura takes a pause, and asks Leo to be honest with her, whether it’s going to hurt her feelings or not…”Where did you go last night?” He went for a walk, is all, and Laura should stop stressing so much, there’s no need for her to worry about him. Laura’s bought something special, she’ll be back in a minute to show him. While Laura is out of the room, Leo flashes back to the image of Jake and Greenlee kissing in the window of the loft, but commands himself to stop. He looks up as Laura steps into the room wearing a short, peach, satin, nightie. “What do you think”, Laura asks her husband. He likes it, but little does she know he’s picturing the nightie on Greens. Laura moves in for some loving, but her bracelet falls off. Leo picks it up, he’s going to take it to a jewelers to get fixed right away. Laura persists in her seduction, but Leo’s not interested. He demands that she stop. Laura’s perplexed while Leo spouts off…He feels like their playing dress up, and this is a pretend marriage. While Laura protests, Leo points out that the true Laura, the Laura he fell in love with, was the one who lived every moment like it were her last, the girl he spent the day with in the park. Laura thinks she’s coming on too strong, Leo says she’s trying to be like Greenlee. Laura can’t compete, she says. Leo doesn’t want her to compete with Greenlee, he just wants her to be herself, spontaneous, joyous. They move in together for a kiss, which heats up rapidly.
Bianca and Greenlee
Greenlee tries to brush off Bianca, saying if she’s late back from lunch Erica will have her locked in the file room for a week. “So I’ll write you a note”, Bianca replies. Greenlee can’t believe that Laura sent Bianca over to fight her battles for her. Laura doesn’t know Bianca is even there. She came on her own. Leo is B’s friend, and he’s married for all the wrong reasons, and he’s still in love with Greenlee. Too bad, says Greens, she gave him one last opportunity to make it right, and he turned her down. She’s done. Leo’s moved on, now she is moving on as well. Knowing right well how vicious Greens can be, Bianca can’t figure out why Greenlee’s not fighting for Leo. Really? If Bianca is so concerned for Laura and Leo, why doesn’t she help Laura fix her marriage, instead of going over to the dark side and making Greenlee do the dirty work. Sorry, Les-Bianca, Laura’s not interested. And isn’t it ironic how when it comes down to it, Bianca is just like her mother. Bianca disagrees, she’s just looking out for Laura. Greenlee presses the issue, though. (I love Greenlee in the in-your-face, can’t-hide-from-the-truth mode. Nobody does it better, especially since she’s so nasty about it!) Does Laura want her help or protection? Bianca doesn’t answer. No, she doesn’t. Laura can’t face that Leo isn’t in love with her, and this whole thing is just a ploy to break Laura’s heart so that Bianca may be there to pick up the pieces. Bianca tries to bring the focus back on Leo’s feelings for Greenlee, but she’s still not budging. Leo lied to Greens about who he was. She tells Bianca that she saw Brooke give Leo a check at the hospital, thanking him for his services. Leo is STILL on the take. (Bianca also saw Leo take a check from Brooke at the wedding reception). Bianca questions why Greenlee never told anyone. “Maybe I’m tired of being the bad girl”, Greenlee surmises. Regardless, she’s NOT going to be used, if Bianca wants Laura to know the truth Bianca will have to tell her. “Does it bother you to see Leo so unhappy?” Bianca asks. “Only Leo can change that.”
Erica and Brooke
In Erica’s office Brooke awaits to meet. Erica tells her assistant Val to hold all her calls. Brooke begins by thanking Erica for all of her support over the last few months. Getting right to the point Erica asks what the problem is…is it Greenlee? Brooke is just not sure if Laura can stand up to the pressure of Leo’s past with Greenlee, mentally or physically. Brooke wants Erica to get Greenlee out of town. (You have to love how Erica drags the truth from a reluctant Brooke with just a few well placed, lancing questions. Erica already knows the answers, she just want Brooke to have to spit it out, and once again need as an ally her enemy.) Brooke figures that Laura is going through a post operative depression and her need for reassurance will be assuaged if Greenlee is gone. Brooke calls as an to Erica’s attention how upset Bianca was when Sarah had left. Bianca got over it, Brooke reminds Erica, by falling in live with someone else (a.k.a. Laura). Knowing how Erica keeps hoping that Bianca will forget her lesbian tendencies, Brooke hints that so long as Laura and Leo are happily married, Bianca won’t be looking to Laura as a potential mate. This is all Erica needs to push her to agreeing. Okay, she’ll do it. Brooke says she didn’t know if she was overstepping her bounds. Yep, she was, Erica assures her. But they do what it takes to help their daughters.
Brooke and Bianca
Bianca is strolling through the halls at Tempo, and comes across book who is sitting in her office. Bianca was just looking for Leo, she tells Brooke. The two chat idly. Bianca questions why Laura isn’t going to PVU in the fall, as she was so excited to learn she was accepted. With all that been going on, and having gotten married, Laura’s priorities have changed, Brooke informs Bianca. Bianca comments on Leo’s future employment. Brooke thinks Leo’s going to be great, he’s bright, he’s quick. He’s bored, he’s restless, Bianca interjects. This whole job thing is just to distract him from his unhappiness. It’s just a ploy to hold on to him for Laura’s sake, Bianca points out. Brooke warns Bianca that she’s crossing the line, but Bianca doesn’t care, it’s about time someone did cross the line. It’s very obvious to everyone that they’re not a happily married couple. They all see Leo’s unhappy, including Laura. This marriage is nothing but a business deal, one arranged by Brooke, revealing that Bianca saw Brooke hand Leo a check. Brooke has effectively trapped Leo. She announced to everyone at the party that Leo had saved Laura’s life. How can Leo back out on that? He now carries a guilty, crush spirit, and when Leo can’t pretend anymore, Laura’s going to know that her whole marriage was a lie. Brooke still believes that Laura and Leo can have a long and happy life together. How? Bianca questions, Leo doesn’t love Laura. Bianca has it pointed out to her for the second time that day that Laura isn’t a lesbian. Laura doesn’t want Bianca, she wants Leo. And Leo wasn’t bought. Brooke offered, but Leo turned her down because he found genuine feelings for his wife. He’s given Laura the will to live. Bianca’s jealousy is Bianca’s problem, not Laura’s so butt out!
Erica and Greenlee
Greenlee comments to Erica that it feels like she’s been with Enchantment forever. Well, Greenlee’s quarterly review is done, and Erica’s impressed. As a matter of fact with one of Greens’ ideas under development, Erica wants to offer her the promotion of a life time. She’s sending Greenlee to PARIS! She can stay in La Maison de Kane, and will be given $10000 in French Francs. Erica tells Greens to pack, she’s leaving tonight at eight. An incredulous Greenlee refuses. Erica can’t believe Greenlee is being such an ingrate! I’ve held up my end of the deal, Greenlee counters. The agreement was that if Greenlee messes up, she splits town for good. So what’s going on. Just then Val walks into the office with a message for Erica, taken while she was meeting with Brooke English. Greenlee clues in. Is the whole world in on the plot, she asks. Bianca has just finished trying to get her to destroy Leo’s marriage so that Laura can “get in touch with her inner-lesbian” (only Greenlee could come up with that). Bianca and Laura are just friends, Erica states. Whatever, Greenlee leaving town isn’t going to make Laura’s marriage a happy one. She’s staying. Greenlee walks out of Erica’s office. When she’s gone, Erica tells no one in particular that it’s really not Greenlee’s choice.
Ryan and Mia and Liza (oh my)
In the Gym, Ryan catches Mia trying to wipe away tears before he can see them. What was she lying about, he questions. Never mind, Mia dismisses, it’s just full moon fever that has her emotions playing tricks on her. So, is Mia still blackmailing Marion? What does she have on Marion anyway? Marion is just deny Mia what is rightfully hers, but Mia’s not going to back down. Ryan wants to know what the secret is. Ryan wouldn’t understand. Has he ever been lied to. She was. Her mom told her that her father was dead, but it wasn’t true, he’d just left them. You could be better of without him, says Ryan. He recounts briefly the rough treatment he received at the hands of his father. Mia apologizes for her insensitivity and hugs him, just as Liza enters the room.
Ryan re-introduces the women. Liza remembers Mia, she’s the card shark. Does it pay the rent? Liza snipes. Sometimes, retorts Mia, but usually she does that with her paycheck, as she works as a personal trainer. She snidely suggests that Liza take one of her classes, she can work wonders.
When Mia leaves Ryan and Liza alone, Ryan asks if she was able to calm Marion down after she walked in on the two in a lip-lock. Liza told Marion about Adam, she revealed, and that’s all Marion needed to figure out that Liza and Ryan had slept together. Marion understands that Liza is in pain, but doesn’t think that Ryan should be used in a plot against Adam. Too bad, Liza wants Adam to feel the same way she did, when she found out he had slept with the judge. (All the while, Mia is listening just around the corner). Liza tells Ryan that he gives her hope. She walks away for a moment, and Mia returns. “You slept with Liza?” she queries. What’s it to her, Ryan wants to know. Mia just can’t believe that he would do that to his wife. Don’t judge me, Ryan warns her, you didn’t know my wife. Mia just thinks that it’s too soon for him to be sleeping with someone else. Liza over hears that last comment, angry that Ryan has told her. Ryan denies telling, saying that Mia had heard them speaking. You were eavesdropping, she asks Mia. Sarcastically Mia agrees saying that she loves to fill her life with melodrama. Marion walks in to hear Liza ask Mia who Mia thinks she is. Marion rushes forth spouting apologies for not telling her sooner that Mia is her sister. What? Liza gapes. My Sister?
