Steve Burton (Dylan; ex-Jason, GH) couldn’t be happier on Y&R. He got what he asked for — more time with his family in Tennessee — and told TV Guide’s Michael Logan in a June 16th interview that he’s very content. He jokingly admitted playing out Avery’s online cooking show wasn’t exactly high on the list but overall, he’s good. “The move to Tennessee has been so great. I have a life! I coach football, take the kids to tennis and everywhere else they need to go. It's been life-changing for me,” Burton said. “People always go, ‘Man that must be tough flying back and forth across the country to do your job!’ But when I was in L.A., I lived in Newport Beach and drove to the studio every day in bumper-to-bumper traffic — four hours round trip. Lemme tell ya, I'd rather be on a plane sitting in the middle seat in coach than do that again! So, yeah, this has all worked out for the best. I wouldn't even call it bittersweet. I really miss my pals over at GH. I was there almost 21 years. But this change has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me.” All that free time with his family resulted in another baby on the way — a scheduled July 7th C-section.
Eileen Davidson (Ashley) returns in September, having signed back on. She’s done over at DOOL as Kristen after her next 12-week story arc.
Doug Davidson (Paul) didn’t even think he had enough material to submit for the leading actor category in the Daytime Emmys. But he was told that as long he had tenure, that qualified him to run as a leading man. He submitted scenes where Paul tries to talk young Jamie literally off the roof. “The truth of the matter is – this past year I had one show to submit in my estimation. The rest just wasn’t Emmy appropriate,” he explained in a June 19th interview with Michael Fairman. “I even considered changing categories, because it was not about my story, but about the story of Jamie (Daniel Polo) and the Baldwins (Christian LeBlanc and Tracey E. Bregman) and Phyllis (then, Michelle Stafford), etc. I was definitely a supporting player in this, but after conferring with the academy and my producers, they thought it’s not measured by the story, but measured by your tenure on the show. So I kept it in the lead category.”
Y&R’s new associate producer was the show’s publicist, Jimmy Freeman.
